Kans voor ieder Kind (Opportunity for every Child – 2021)

Opportunity for Every Child” is a Dutch documentary created for a local broadcaster, directed by my colleague Nadia Maas. I served as the cameraman and editor for this project, which took place in 2021.

The documentary delves into the city’s initiative to provide equal opportunities for children from diverse schools and backgrounds, particularly those represented by minorities, allowing them to pursue their passions and aspirations, and ultimately, to become the professionals they aspire to be. It features interviews with representatives from the “Petje Af” initiative, local municipal officials, and other prominent figures from the city, along with insights from the participating children themselves.

The aim of the documentary is to raise awareness among the citizens of Breda about the importance of such initiatives for the future of our children, and to encourage greater community involvement.

The production process was relatively swift, spanning four weeks from concept to completion. It was a commissioned piece for BredaNu, with only myself and Nadia Maas tasked with its production. This marked my first foray into documentary filmmaking, and despite challenges such as limited equipment and time constraints, both the local broadcaster and our team were pleased with the final outcome, as were our colleagues.
